Can anyone ID what country this K98 bayonet may have been made for? Someone said maybe Portugal but not sure if that is correct or not.
This one has a number 4750 on the top of the handle and two WaA253 waffenampts. One letter "S" one the small part of the spine. Scabbard is completely unmarked. Frog is stamped E.O.Gotze & Sohn GORSDORF 1941 and a large upper case "K" stamped on it.

Your bayonet has all the characteristics of being a Portuguese M1937 contract piece. I own one in the no-letter bloc as well. However, I have been informed when the first deliveries of rifles were sent to Portugal, these were non-Portuguese-crested (S/42 1937 chamber marked) Kar98ks. On these rifles, the Portuguese serial numbers were boldly stamped on the side of the buttstock, and serial number range began with the "A letter bloc". So, the question remains, what about the (few) examples known from the no-letter bloc...where do these fit into the scheme of things? The rifles themselves, along with bayonets, were offered by Waffen Frankonia sometime in the early 1980s, but never got imported to the USA. A fellow collector was also interested about these bayonets, and was going to contact a well-known expert on Mauser Oberndorf production, to see if he could shed any light on this. BTW, is there a small "S" with serifs stamped on the underside of the blade, just forward of the cross-guard? If so, this marking appears to be unique to the no-letter bloc bayonets.

Personallly dont believe its Portuguese Mo937, most likely same period different export piece, that was later joined with normal S84/98 frog and dress trodell probably. The mentioned letter on lower ricasso should be presented, but i believe its script o in reality. From the condition of bayonet, it looks like never used or delivered to the destination country. b.r.Andy

One in the NLB with a cleaned-off blade edge went for about $130.00 recently on "that" auction site. IMHO buyer overpaid or was unaware of the issue w/the blade. IMHO yours with a frog & knot handily bucks it up to a deuce + shipping.
