Try not to get excited, take your time before you buy. This stuff ( real German 3rd ) is really hitting the market now. Study before you buy.

Thanks ed, these were giving just some hope for me bcause im wondering how someone can use this much time to make patina look so REAL. What details are making them bad or reproduction?

Hey seany and thanks i just found same information that they are called (fantasy bayonets) are the both side etching later made? And how much they are worth without etching?

Of the same opinion, actual TR period Wehrmacht bayonets that have been postwar "upgraded" to fake "SS" bayonets. Usually using "beater" (poor) condition examples to try and extract as much money as possible with items that are not that desirable, I've even seen some for units that only existed on paper. Originally a popular pastime for some fakers circa the 1970's, these to me look like they may be from one of the more recent batches created decades later. Best Regards, Fred
As already mentioned a fantasy etches on normal S84/98 bayonets, i would ask for details of the both pieces mainly the 192W marked ones, what for maker is on other side? the red grips piece could be a blanko as no visible serials there, any stamps on pommel or on opposite ricasso? even in unit of SS LAH are errors. b.r.Andy
Both blades looks like removed blueing, (visible on ricasso area) before adding the fantasy etches, possible sharpening was done too, the LSSAH piece had broken tip, as the end of blade have different geometry and is shorter as the other one. About 5mm or more difference, the scabbards are normal S84/98 Weahrmacht pieces delivered one 44.cul, other J.Sch 40 probably, remains of blueing are still visible in frog areas, where the leather covered the metall before damage and rust spures. b.r.Andy
Hey, on 192w theres w.k.c on opposite side as maker. Forget to post that pic but got it here.
Red bayonet one has absolutely zero marks/stamps on it outside (havent opened it). On holster theres J.sch 1940 and 4670 on other side.
Black one 192w/w.k.c on ricasso. 44.cul/3386 on holster.
Any more details you want?
J.sch stands for maker Jetter und Scheerer?

They had some real beauties from the 60s I believe that although fantasy some collected them. Tiger wood grips, some matching numbers, frogs etc. I still have a Wiking one somewhere,,,,and there was /used to be a good topic here on them showing some of the patterns..
The WKC is blanko too as 192W in similar way was not used by Wehrmacht, on pommel should be no WaA stamps there. in reality the bayonets in origin even beated condition were more valuable as normal S84/98 with fantasy etches, more possible the WKC could be used by WaffenSS in real. b.r.Andy
Unfortunally people who etched the blades are stupid, as not read information about similar bayonets.

Please refer to my book page 53.. whoever purchased these fake etches on these bayonets could have saved a lot of money and time simply looking at my book..

A common fake at shows when I first noticed them, I intuitively knew they were fakes. The examples in Frederick J. Stephens earlier book that was devoted to postwar fakes has them originally common coming from the UK. Since then I suspect that some other copycat bayonets have probably come from other areas. Please be careful and do your homework.
Such a shame these obvious fakes still make the rounds, eventually costing collectors money. Buy books, educate yourselves, its the only way to avoid being stung.
