Hi gents !
As I know nothing about bayos I need your help here !!
Got this Waffen SS rig recently out of the woodwork with a well worn RODO combat buckle but with approx 85-90% of the original paint left on the reverse and with a K98 bayo and a belt.
What is your thought on the serial number here ?
339 & 389 ?
Who is the maker of the bayo ?
Any information is highly appriciated !!
Thanks, Hakan

A very early 1935 bayonet by Mundlos. Interesting that this one appears to be a factory mismatch and not a light or off centre punch strike on the 8 or 3.
Some boss eyed factory worker having a bad day.

No, it is not a factory mismatch. Notice the different fonts on the 3 in the serial numbers. Close but no cookie.
Hi guys can i ask why the "3"s are different on the scabbard and blade ????

Hello the different fonts on bayonet and scabbard are normal, the non matching is little problematic so early of production, what for acceptance proof is on pommel? thanks,Andy

Hi !
The pommel have two Waffen Amt stamps on the front and one stamp on top of the relese button and one shows on the other side when the relese button is pushed in !
The numbers after the eagle is so small so they
are hard to read !
any chance of a pic of the blade ? is there any maker /nos on the reverse of the frog ??

Will try to take a few tommorow, the blueing on the blade is lost to time.
No other markings on the blade or the frog !
Hakan
ok Hakan81, what do you normally discuss on this forum ? due to the amount of posts you have ? Smile

I'm or was really into german / british rifles , but got annoyed with the uk gun laws , i cannot understand the draconion laws my country imposes on collectable weapons , never seen/heard of a bank job done with a SMLE or K98 Mad

Hakan81:

Yes, this would be considered a mismatch by most collectors of bayonets. Even one number off, while a curiosity that begs the question of how can this happen, is a mismatch.

Early G & K code bayonets are not often seen, but the holy grail of bayonet collecting is unsharpened mint condition matching number K98s, especially the very late war (like late 44 or 45) and very early, IMHO.

Yes, Agree with that john 1 million % , The question still remains , We all love the matching no.s , BUT , VERY close no,s are VERY interesting IMHO , Why not ? if in good condition Wink
