Hello Again, I have this beautiful DRP Bajonet. Can You tell me something about it? I know it was from the Deutsche Reich Post, and that it later in the war came under the SS. Is this one OK??
Looking forward the hear your comments.
Regards Claus

Hello, this is the "more common" maker of the rare PS bajonets, the second one known is ALCOSO. The certain mm on your bayonet is proper for these PS bajonets. I have seen and owned a few of these bayonets and although I somehow wonder about the back of the grip rivets overall I can see no explicite red flag and all other seems proper.
Attached is another one (ALCOSO) with the proper knot directly out of the family of the former wearer.
Regards,

Claus,

I agree with Wotan. Your KS98 Postschutz bayonet is correct. It does look like the grip rivets were buggered up a bit. Perhaps someone trying to tighten up the grip panels by peening them.

Interesting there exist by collectors DRP 483 and 486.

I agree with the above learned opinions, this looks like a nice period DRP bayonet. The Weyersberg mark within the elipse is not often seen on KS98 bayonets & many of those seen are DRP marked. I have a fire bayonet with the same mark, not often seen at all.

Wotan's konvolut with knot, paperwork & picture is just a scream, I've seen it before but it's still great to look at.

Thank You gentlemen for comments. And Wotan: what a nice DRP. (is the frog marked with DRP as well?)

Hello, to answer your question will take a little time as I do not have my collection at hands. But I think to remember it has a PS marking.

If you refer to the well known metal backed frog with the D.R.P. stamping, this one has nothing to do with the Postschutz but is the abbrevation fpr Deutsches Reich(s) Patent which means the same as Pat.Pend.

@ Steven C, there are numbers up to five digits. Mainly the (obviously later contracted) ALCOSO ones do have higher numbers.

Hello, I could now check it and, yes, the bayonet frog is (like the accompanying leather belt!) stamped DRP in connection with the abbrevation of the location of the certain DRP district.
As said, this has nothing to do with the metal backed frog with "only" the D.R.P. stamping which means "Deutsches Reich(s) Patent".

I have a pair of DRP frogs marked "Rgsb" which I've been told represents Regensberg. Will try to post a pic when I'm home.

Wotan, which lettering does yours have?
