New to the forum.
I recently received a Fire Dress bayonet and have some questions about the frog that came with it. It appears to me that the fit of the scabbard into the frog seems a little sloppy. It has considerable play from left to right as well as up and down.
My question is whether this frog and bayonet are a match? The frog is marked for Otto Stephan 1937 on the reverse of frog.
Any help would be appreciated.

Detlef,

Your suspicions are correct. Your frog is for the larger S84/98 style bayonet. The knot is proper but the correct frog would be the smaller frog made for the KS98 and the FW bayonet. This is the so-called "Dress" frog made without the large washered rivets shown on your frog.
