Aleksandr,

Nice example of a rather tough model to find in any condition, this one isn't so terrible at all. Wittmann sold one for $2K a year or two ago, he's got another for $1500. One suggestion I'd make is have someone bend that crossguard back to it's original shape.

The piece came from Eban, right?

Very nice - very rare.

Congratulations on obtaining it.

Alekandr,

A very nice example of the Baden Polizei Seitengewehr. These are tough to find.

Here is a nickel one like yours next to a gold example, both by WKC. These were offered in two sizes as shown in the photo. The larger gold tombak one is an item of issue (WKC 824) while the smaller white metal one is made "in leichter Ausfhrung" as the WKC 832.

Tough to find is right. This is the long version by WKC, similar to Orpo's gold model on the left. I paid a lot for it at the time but have never regretted it as this was a quality piece. The knot while not completely accurate for Baden Polizei, does have the correct Baden colors although it looks like a sword knot. These pieces occupy a distinct place in the geneology of German Polizei sidearms IMO, particularly because of the unusual hooked pommel.

Very nice examples of rare bayo's. Real nice to see.
Think carefully before attempting to bend that crossguard! Many a piece have been damaged by such tweeking!!

These have always been rare. The gold one is extremely rare. Also interesting to note is that these were worn WELL into the Third Reich period and there is photographic proof of this.

Hi Paul >>i am still in doubt whether to bend this crossguard back or not i also see your point, the bayonet is 70 years old so certainly if you bend it can break.
i also need to find somebody who could clean this blade though

Yes, and the one that Aleksandr shows has two grip rivets and the early 1930s Eickhorn trademark. Worn well into the NS Zeit as Houston says.

Opro >>i have never seen a gold example..very nice what is the length of this gold Baden? The total length om my example is 27 inches

Aleksandr,

My gold WKC Baden Pol-Seitengewehr is the same total length as your white one. My lightweight white WKC shown is 22 1/2" overall.

A few years ago, we had an interesting discussion concerning the Baden Police bayonet and if they should all have three rivets in the grip. The old thread has of course, disappeared.
At that time, we didn't have another Carl Eickhorn to compare and had questions about the two rivets being correct. I think Billy & George were both involved in this thread also.
Thanks for posting yours, Aleksandr. It confirms the two rivet CE grip as being correct.
Here's my CE.

Thanks for posting your Baden >>Denny>> most known reference books discuss the one with 3 rivets however i am sure the one with two rivets existed and perhaps was the earlier type WKC was making bayonets with 3 rivets Eickhorn on the other hand produced with 2 rivets at least those i have seen by Eickhorn were with 2 rivets
regards

Two very nice Seitengewehre Aleksandr. Are there any property markings on the big one?
Posted By: Aleksandr Re: My Baden Bayonet recently perchased - 11/13/2009 03:08 AM
Thanks ORPO>>> there are no property marks on it
Posted By: ORPO Re: My Baden Bayonet recently perchased - 11/13/2009 02:41 PM
My large gold one has property markings of "ENE" on the front. I presume these may indicate Engen or Endingen but I have never found any books listing Baden Polizei property markings.
