Hello,

I was recently fortunate to buy 4 swords from a vet's family. 2 were WWII German Lionheads, 1 was an Imperial Artillery piece. The 4th is pictured here. First sword I ever found with a hanger.
Sword has no crowned eagle in the engraving like the artillery piece. It does have a black and white leather finger loop. Maker mark is WKC but no lettering--not sure what time period this is from. Is the hanger WWI, Weimar, or WWII? What was the little chain for?

Your sword is a model 1852 at one time used by cavalry formations and later by Train( not railroad ) units. The style is pre WW1. The Knighthead proof can date it and someone else will know I'm sure. The belt is an under the tunic style and with the hangers is appropriate to your sword. Nice rigging.

Forgot. The hook is to hold the sword up when dismounted. Fastens through the upper scabbard ring.
