I purchased an Army dagger from the vet's grandson at our local show on Sunday. It had a portepee in very poor condition wrapped in the standard fashion and it looked like it had been there forever. But it's in such poor condition that it actually detracts from the dagger.

Interestingly the portepee has brown interwoven in the stem. Anyone ever see this before?

Bernie, I think it's a manufacturers variation, my army on the left has this type of knot.

Darn... I thought it might have been a rare portepee from the SA Army. Big Grin Big Grin

Bernie: The only thing detracting on this portepee is that cord which is down and out. This could be repaired. If you want to consider rescueing this knot let me know.
