Hi guys - with record snowfall and storm surge, I was wondering if any of our members was hit bad by the storm last weekend? I happen to know that forum moderator Gaspare was again dead in its path in a low lying area... If u hadn't noticed he hasn't been on for about a week, and we are all hoping he's ok --- anyone else?

In North Carolina, we got about 2" of sleet which froze. Sun's been out for 3 days so we are ok.

I was wondering about Gaspare too, I saw one report that the tidal surge in places was actually worse than Sandy. I heard Wildwood area got nailed pretty bad but many other areas fared not too bad.

I have a daughter in NC [USMC], she said it wasn't too bad there. I was looking at the radar map and it looked like, as Dave suggests, was mostly precipitation there and didn't turn to pure snow until a bit further north.

So this is the day before high tide... You have all seen the snow photos. Unbelievable! we had 27"!

This is across the street from me.. The water came up pretty high. We lost a utility shed in our back yard..It had the usual stuff in it. Lucky though we had the snow blower up on 3 milk crates!
Took 2 days to dig ourselves out.. The sun came and things pretty close to normal now......

Dave,, I'm a die hard NYer true and true..
Eventually I'll have a new home with a one car garage underneath.. And, if the town gets these new flood gates working in the canals the flooding will stop...

I'm a half mile to the Atlantic ocean [Long Beach],,,and a 40 min train ride to Manhattan the greatest city on earth. Long Island has beautiful roads for riding,,some great wineries and every nationality and creed of people are here,,,no, those places are fine I'm sure [I've been to both] but this IS heaven for me...

I live in Brigantine NJ and it was not as high as Sandy. Lost everything in Sandy its the price you pay living on an island Paul

Paul,,don't feel bad. I had 4 foot water in most parts of my home in Sandy!!

How did you make out these last 2 days?? Another foot and I would have had a problem :(,,,but no water inside. Just a messy clean up afterwards... Heard you guys got hit pretty hard in parts of Jersey!!

nice Paul! Sushi time!!!

yeah, its tough to leave a way of life you love..

Us too,,we're in this house about 16 years before water came close.in.
Before that ,,I'm actually born and raised from my town. Going to be 57 years and just had the water in Irene and Sandy.
We're getting promises of a tear down and new house. But so far just aggravation. Yeah, maybe this will end up my children's problem one day too! Keep the collection high!!

- this is last week and close by!
