germanmilitariacollectibles.com is up and running again for anyone here who visits there site. lots of fresh items listed for sale
for a cost of 25.00 don't forget that
I was all paid up when it went down, so I'am good for a while. $25.00 Thats just for selling on there site not to buy and and browse.
I tried to browse with a membership but can't click on an item to see pictures?

I tried to contact a seller to ask a question & got the message that I had to be a premium member to do that. I'm not shelling out $25 just to ask a question....

Cheers
Don
who owns it?

Dave
nonsense you must be paid up to full membership to view and to get details on an item if you have an account and hit on an item it asks you to upgrade your membership for 25.00. We went through this a couple years ago with the owner. To many fakes anyhow
I wont pay $25 to just browse the classifieds on it, is he crazy!? Does anyone??
I dont' like to post in forums but I'm going to make an exception this time. I read what you all said about the new GMC site and what a bunch of misinformation and inaccuracies!!! I live not far from Bob Treend and visited him several times while he struggled to get the new site up. You have no idea the problems he faced and the work that went into rebuilding it. Then to see you people spread a bunch of garbage like that. Why don't you all check things out and get your facts straight before posting trash?
Hey Guys
I just signed up on the site...free basic...not sure what your problems are but I can view all items with no problems!

Maybe to Bid on an item, you might have to pay,did not try that...but if you click on a thumbnail it shows a larger image

GDC 0292 Gold
I like the look of the site for $25 not a bad deal IMO
Sepp, I'm glad to see someone has an open mind. No,there is no bidding, you contact the seller to arrange a purchase using what Bob calls the "in house messageing system". I've used it and it's pretty neat. Also, with a free basic membership you can access the ads from the home page. Click on the ad headline and the ad opens up. There are some features that are reserve for paid members, but you "can" buy without paying a membership fee.

Why am I posting this? Simple, it's a cool site and I want to see it grow!
I asked about membership and this is bob's reply.
It is NOT correct that you have to pay to see what's on our site. As a matter of fact your don't have to pay a membership to buy whats on our site! What you do have to do is be a member who is LOGGED-IN.

It's really amazing; 90% of the problems and misunderstanding guys have about using our site, and others I suspect, is simply because they don't READ.!!! I guess that's just part of being a "man" for some guys... kind on like never asking directions. This would be funny if it didn't cause so many problems. And what really gets me is how one guy will misunderstand something, post it on the fourms as gosple, and then a bunch of other people, who know nothing about it too, will jump in like sharks at a feeding frenzy. Now the word is out, albeit wrong, and the damage is done. All becuase one guy didn't read the instructions.

So, on the new site I made a major change; I set up a "FREE" basic membership. I thought a lot of our more "economy minded" collectors would like this, but noooooo!, I get slammed instead.
Extremely well done site. Certainly worth a look. Just from what I saw, if buying from the site, it would be like all others, buyer beware. Unfortunate some hard fealings seem to have been created here over the misunderstanding of entrance requirenments.

Just a small misunderstanding I hope. I think the site is a good addition to the community.
I have not used the site for a long time but did buy one piece and sell one piece. Like anywhere else you have to know what you are looking at but it is a good place to visit. I had occasion to correspond with Bob and he is a gentleman.
I've never really visited other sites but GDC. I checked it out and so far I like it so they just got a new member. I'm joining.

I have just checked this out and if I click on "send message" I am informed that a premium membership is required to use this feature. If you are likely to use the site frequently or if there is a particular item you want then $25 is not such a big deal but unless I missed something the above information is misleading.

Landser is correct. I could neither contact the seller or see the seller profile even though I registered.

If I were a seller on the site I would be a little upset that people had to pay $25.00 just to contact me with questions or offers.

I suspect the owner will be making adjustments as he learns.
I just saw the above post and called Bob about it. He said they're doing some maintainence on the site and it should be working again soon.
THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE SITE THAT WAS CAUSING MUCH CONCERN , THE THE OWNER HAS CHOSEN TO BAD MOUTH THOSE THAT COMPLAINED MAYBE AN APOLOGY IS IN ORDER HERE SIR
FYI,I just talked with Bob and he said they think they solved the problem with the messageing system and it should now work ok for basic members. He sounds tired and told me they have been working day and night to get everthing sorted out. I told him about the posts here and his response was a simple "That figures". I think he believes that no matter what he does some people will still criticize. I've been on the site every day and haven't had any problems and there are more ads being posted so some people like it.
think I have cracked it!
Seems to be fixed now. I was at last able to send a message to a seller without being asked for a fee.

Cheers
Don
I am also a member not a premimum member because I only buy and have no problem seeing the items nor contacting the seller! I one one of the first members when it first came out and besides the site crashing I have never had a problem doing business there.
Rod
I talked with Bob Treend again and he told me they seem to have all the problems worked out with the new site. He said there are some small details they're working on to make things work a little "smoother", as he put it. He also told me that they are developing some new features; he mentioned an improved feedback function and messageing system, and something else I can't remember. Just thought some of you would be interested.
I suspect that someone there mined our membership list when that was still possible and is using that to spam GDC members.

I've had two complaints - anyone else getting spammed?

Dave
I've had a few emails from them.

One came in on the email address that I gave them when I registered a few weeks back. But the others have come in on the email address I use for here....

Cheers
Don
Yes Dave, I have.
I actually didn't mind the first notification but it still goes on, over and over. Naturally he does have a 'Opt-out' option as I sure he buddies will come to his defense here.
Here is how his first sentence reads;

>>You or someone on your behalf has submitted your email address to receive our newsletter.<<

-Someone on my behalf??? eek

I don't care for their style of business nor for the many humped-up items in their 'offerings'. They sound desperate for business, all of which keeps me away. -JMO-

-serge-
I just tried the site. Im not paying anyone to LOOK at items.
Ive been getting e-spammed from an email of
notifications@germanmilitariacollectibles.com

6 unsolicited emails within 2 months, have no idea how they got my email [which is the on I use here]
They do have an "opt out" on the bottom of the mail, that in itself can be a scam, as it simply verifies that it is an active email account.
I just got spammed again. Enough is enough.

I am changing the title of this thread to Beware of them so the robots including Google pick it up
I too have got spam emails from these folks.
I have also gotten spam from them. An email about every two weeks or so.
Jim
Good bye.
