I just rescued this from its buildup of green goo!! It has been with my family since the end of ww2, and never cleaned as far as I know..
It's a swedish model, private purchase and as such never issued. There are several variations of these, produced from about 1940 to 1962.
Grips are made of moose/elk antlers, and all other parts are nickle plated and polished.

Cheers,

Thank you for sharing.
I am surprised these are not more popular with collectors.

These bayonets were made by Mattson, Mora. They were a private initiative and never offically adopted. Eventually, they were forbidden to be worn.

There are several variations of these both in size and appearance, and yes they ought to be more popular amongst collectors as these are really nice Smile

The makermark had also several variations:

F.M.Mattson Mora
F.M.Mattson Mora Sweden
F.M.Mattson AB Mora Sweden
FMM Mora Sweden

Variations by FMM's modelnumber:
model 710 Small, simple model. Double crossguard, w/o clamshell. Overall length 285 mm
model 720 Double crossguard, with clamshell. Overall length 330 mm
model 100 Single crossguard, with clamshell. Overall length 330 mm.
model 730, model 110 Double crossguard, with clamshell. Overall length 370 mm

They were never allowed worn by uniformed military personnell.

My sources are from a swedish bajonet collector, www.holmback.se

Best regards,

Nice bayo! I've one with an engraving on the clamshell. How common are the 'pukko'-ish style bayo? (Frnicklad bajonett m/1896 on the page quoted by LH600). I don't remember seeing one before today.
