It's good Alex. Mid range production and hangers. The price is good if you can get it at $200. I just picked up another Navy so I will not be bidding against you.

Is it possible to determine the year by number on these daggers?
Posted By: Jim W Re: Polish navy dagger - M1952 - 12/31/2015 03:15 PM
Hi Alex, kind of. We know how's many were made, approximately how many were silver plated vs. nickel plated. etc.

A 6000 series Naval was probably built in the early 70's.

Basically you want to stay away from any Naval numbered over 14,000 and any Air Force dagger over 30,000.

I suspect you know about pre 1989 eagle and post.

Thank you Jim!
Yes, I'm aware of pre 1989 eagle.
What is the best way to clean it? Do you buff it or there are some chemical brass cleaners?
Regards,
Alex

To clean or not to clean, that is the question that plagues dagger collectors for generations.

But First, did you get the naval on Ebay?

Before I touch a dagger with anything except a cloth and some mild cleaner to remove fingerprints and grime, I have to have a reason.

You can do a search here of topics on cleaning daggers and will get a lot of good advice.

Personally, if I decide to clean a dagger that is neither anodized, or gold plated, I use a German product called Wenol. An aluminum based metal polish that is excellent on silver plate, silver, German silver, brass.

But again, I would really look hard at the dagger before I applied anything.

If we are talking about the naval on EBay, I would not touch that with anything but a mild soap and soft cloth.
