Hello
I have an offer for buying this Cro Treasury Guard dagger without scabbard. My opinion about it is:
-pommel and crossguard looks OK
-shape of grip is not a catalog type, but looks old
-blade is nickel-plated
-rings are mistery for me
Price is about 350Euros.
What do you think is it original one or not? Does it have any value? Is it good for collection?
Thanx in advance
Dejan

This depends on what you want for a collection

You might want to wait and find a dagger with the scabbard.

In My opinion, at 350 Euro, this is a very bad deal.

For the most part, as regards Croation Daggers, the only difference between services is the cross guard and the scabbard. So, this looks like a group of parts to me. Specifically,

The pommel does not fit the grip. The white grip is acceptable but as I said, ill fitting. The rings are a decoration that normally are attached to the dagger. There is no makers mark on the blade. Very unusual.

I see you are Yugoslavia. I am surprised you would consider this dagger.

Thanx for your answers. The seller reduced the price on 250Euros. I am still not quite sure should buy it or not.
Yes Jim I am from Serbia, but I am not interesting in politics. I have several Cro WWII Daggers(3x Army, Air Force, PTS and several parts). The only thing that is matter is love for collecting.

Hi again Panker,

I apologize that my earlier post was not clear. The reason I questioned you having an interest in this dagger has nothing to do with politics, it relates to the dagger not worth buying in my opinion, and I would hope you could find better examples living there.

The real beauty of this particular dagger is in the scabbard and I would not buy these parts for Euro 250.

We would love to see some photos of your collection and any badges you might have.

I have attached a photo of my example so people can see what we are speaking of.

Jim
When I saw your dagger I have definitely decided not to buy it.
I really want to show you parts of my collection(bayos, swords, knives..), and I promise I will do it as soon as I find some extra time. Thank you once again

So, this went for $225.

Thge only thing salvageable is the pommel and perhaps the cross guard. That is a pretty heavy price for two parts.

Look for a treasury guard dagger to show up in an army scabbard pretty soon. We will also have to listen to why it is original. Late war production etc.

Interesting hobby we have.
