I obtained this nice ring a couple of weeks ago. Very pleased with it. As Gaspare often says, 'if you see a good one, grab it!'

This is another example of what's known around here as a 'Tank Tread' skull ring. There are several fine examples on the forum. Just use the Search function and key words: "tank tread".

Such rings were popular among German Army troops during both world wars. This one likely dates from the 1920s, maybe earlier. The shank is silver, nicely tarnished, with an 800 silver content hallmark stamped inside the band. The skull and crossbones motif is attached separately and made of copper or a copper alloy.

thats a very early one.. There is also a flash of gold plate over the 'messing' usually which wore off the first few times you cleaned it!!.. Still a very nice one for the collection..
