A lot of guys ask about their DAK rings, Krim , Roma, etc... I own a series of photos of a semi bombed out shop selling DAK rings to German soldiers. Probably each ring a bit different.

As we know these were usually hand carved. Some a light [very light] plating to them. Some neillo painted [enamel paint]..

What we do see is various designs. Most repeating lets say around the cartouche. A design on the bands side etc. One tool looks like a wheel. Others were simple hand stamps..... With either they too were hand made. Iron and since they were going to be used on Silver most weren't even hardened or only semi hardened.

Anyone with a DAK or similar with the repeating design or embellishment please feel free to post..

there were plenty of tools used. I'll try an find more..

This DAK the red was a regular plain graver tool. The yellow could have been a wheel type..

Thanks for posting Gaspare. Interesting!

As an addition here a Westwall ring with several toolwork .......Look how the drillwork in the word "Westwall " is done, most times starting from point left, going to the right, keeping the drill slant .

Great! thats exactly what you want to see on these types of rings... Some will say postwar as it looks like a 'rotary' tool. Well those tools have been around way before WW2!

Otherwise its tools like above,,the simple 'gravers' ,and occasionally a trick wheel type.... Almost all these rings either a silver alloy or brass type that are quite soft!

Thanks for posting... Getting photos like this can sometimes be very hard to get.. - Members your forum you can always add on photos when you'd like..
