Hello members,

A member here recommended me to this forum for verifying the rings that are offered to me. I have done my own research and they seem to be known pattern rings. I have not spotted any red flags myself. They are in worn condition and some of them even may be ground dug judged by the condition. I hope that you members here that have more knowledge on these rings could please help me with some opinions on these rings. I have added some photos below. Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Best regards,

MHS050

Greetings.. Welcome to the forum...

Authentic 3rd reich rings have become very hard to acquire the last few years. The copies are just so good now its not funny...

Best to compare with the skull ring topic pinned near the top.. The ring at the left appears to be a late made ring and probably good.. The brassy looking skull [2nd from right] was probably cleaned and maybe varnished[?] but also appears fine... The 2 skulls that are the same,,we call them 'Gorilla' skull rings.. They are now copied Very well.. Check your 2. They also were a later pattern. They should be exactly the same. Same amount of teeth, skull size, band thickness/width....

Are they being offered as a collection? Is the seller a digger? Do you have to buy all or nothing type thing?

Gaspare, Thank you for welcoming me! I’m a collector of skull insignia from all around the world and a bit of Dutch Militaria. I’ve noticed also that the copy’s are coming close to the real deal like you mention yourself. I will be back from holidays tomorrow and will have the opportunity to compare the rings with the pinned thread. I will ask for some more photos of the “Gorilla” type skull rings and see if these match with known good ones and compare them between each other on a bigger screen. I assume these must have been made by a die stamp, because you mention they need to be identical.

The rings were sold on a military collectibles market by a collector of these rings. The person who bought the collection is thinking about selling them, but at first was only willing to sell one of the “Gorilla” skull rings and keeping the rest of the rings for himself. I have not found any red flags for myself.. but by your information and help, I think i will need to do some more extensive research on this before making the purchase. I was told that you are on of the more experienced collectors of TR rings. I thank you for your advice and reply on this post.

Much appreciated! Any other opinions are welcome.

,, hard to get good photos from some sellers most of the time. Makes buying a ring very difficult..

You will see with all real rings,,they are finished off well, the detail is good. Check the pinned topic,,and we have 50 back pages.

Dug, very well worn, relic rings are sometimes the toughest to authenticate. We have good photos here of Gorilla skull rings. Some not plated, some with the silver wash that wore off fast. Some with red paint in eyes.. I have seen many,,all made from the same weird brass alloy.

Remember,,they had a thin band [you will see this in photos]. The band is supposed to be bones. Sizes/dimensions all the same [skull size, bone thickness etc. same amount of teeth, tiny dots inside skull fracture lines. Be careful,,be patient,,if they don't seem right to you your probably right.. Find the photos here!
