it is a problem taking photos at the big shows... Those MAX photos I show you guys ,,well about half I get cursed out at.. The other half dirty looks... Only a few welcome me taking photos... Rest of the time I'm like a secret agent with the cam on and trying to take a photo without putting it up to my eye! Try it,,hard to do..

So most won't even try... but PLEASE guys,,,anything, even the reproductions,,,or US rings, cufflinks [harder to find than rings now]... Come home,,recover,,and please post a few photos even if not ring related so the guys in other countries can see what's going on.... Thanks for posting,,,,,,,,,.G.

Today,,last day! I put a call in to 'my cousin Vinny' who is there with a table,,, and asked for a few crowd shots, some table shots,,,and any rings if he see's...

I have heard that 'ring wise' there was not much there. Same with brooches, cuff-links etc.

OK, here's an exclusive.. Big time German dealer has this SS ring there.. He shows it to a few collectors.. ....Real? . , The Dealer is of course in love with it.. It is not for sale he tells everyone..... Me thinks a very smart dealer

anyway a few photos... I have never seen the pattern before,, never seen a period photo in wear , nor seen any advertisements,, or line drawings.

Seems to be a silver ring with oak leafs & acorns on sides..
Cartouche filled with black enamel and Skull & 'K' for concentration camp..

Is the ring authentic? Could be...We would really need much much better photos.
- Lit well,, focused,. - Front -one side - hallmarks- seam - birds eye...

That is the coolest ring we have seen for a while. Almost makes you wish that it is real.

Gaspare, it looks similar to the early-pattern black enamel, silver skull with SS runes ring that you had.

I think more will pop up...I could be wrong, but do not see quality expected on a period ring.

IMO mistake a little bit like like skull with ss runes, but not the same type ..

there are 2 patterns with the Skull & SS,,an early and late.. They both have very glassy black enamel as they should..

- E., I think this one time Russian ring is the same ring from show! Same 2 dings on the head at same place..

A problem is the newer quick enamels. The are quite hard and I'm going to try some experiments soon because I believe at least one passes the hot pin test!

This ring we won't know if good until better photos come about.. It would have to be a early ring and we should expect to see the things that came with the early rings.. Sometimes higher silver contents, super polished inners, excellent detail ,etc. etc....

Maybe some better photos will show up..

Ok well as Gapsare said he thinks it is being held by a very smart dealer. That and around 8500 usd will get you this out of his long term collection. I guess a few weeks is about long term enough in this hobby anymore lol. Every man has his price. However- I believe this ring must be discussed. I do not see any hallmarks or silver stamps on this ring. I have highlighted with the black arrow an obvious space of concern. Hate me or whatever- I do not really care- but if it saves a guy from losing 8500 bucks so be it. I believe this to be an early fake or fantasy piece. Quite obviously cast- and the flaw is really low quality effort even on a cast piece. I would buy it for around 300 as an old repro that I believe is really cool piece for what it is. But not a penny for what it isnt. So those are my opinions and thoughts. Feel free to contribute yours all. Best regards

A fool and quite a lot of his money are soon parted. For 8500 USD excluding taxes and fees- I can think of so many more things to buy. I hope that the hold is not acted upon.

SS-Totenkopfverbande Camp Commadant Staff nco collar tab.. The Skull / K emblem,,,what is on the ring from the start of the topic. Guess we don't know what became of it. Would have been great to inspect it thoroughly..

Something like this IF made would have been made only very briefly. By the early 30s there were laws against Party/organizational jewelry. They were even trying to stop Skull rings! The camp guys themselves hated to wear this 'k' and as most got transferred to SS-VT and later Waffen -SS they were happy to get new uniforms.
To be caught with this pattern ring or insignia near the end and postwar especially anywhere near the Russian front would have been an immediate death sentence!.
Still, a cool looking ring, maybe one day something will turn up on it.
