hi everyone!
ive seen a couple of westfront rings lately. ive seen westwall rings of coarse, but was wondering if there period items
cheers!
Hi Todd-
It's my understanding that the westfront largely refers to WW1 period, (western front). I believe many ww1 remembrance items were manufactured in the interwar period, 1920s I assume. I have heard that the westfront may have referred to the Atlantikwall, however, which would change the period. I have no info on this, but I'd guess you're looking at, if authentic, an interwar period made ring. Just my guesses though.
Regards
Mike
thanks mike! some of these rings even had swastikas. so maybe early 1930s?
I'd say so- I think 30s for sure too
Of course in WWII there were different Westfront-rings.
In my opinion the Westwall lost with beginning war agains France its strategic significance and some rings got the inscription West-Front.
Here for example a skull...similar to the Westwall-skull. For sure from post 1934.
thanks gotz! just never seen many. thought it might be a fantasy item.
cheers!
there are a lot of WestFront items,,,rings, fobs, cufflinks, tie clips etc.. Here are a few of mine...
very nice collection gaspare! the anti-aircraft gun ring you have there is similar to the westwall ring.
yes, many rings [like Odals skull above] came with both Wall or Front on them.....
