I agree- runes and the swas integrated into the construction of the ring.. interesting! Is it a Baltic amber box?
Yep, ostpreuen!! Must be then... very cool.
I rather like the Viking ship brooch, myself. Ado- (when/if you see this thread)...what do you think about it?
some things I love [that blue neillo? box]!! and, like that Amber box!,,very good quality the both of them..
But a couple things are weird.. The ring,,a cool piece,,looks unworn. How would it be to wear that thing? Can you get in/out of your pockets? would it hurt your finger?!?
The Viking ship , is a common piece,,but someone added that sunwheel Swastika for sure!
Wonder who got it?,,and IF they did any more research on the group..
My thoughts too.
Most I like the two boxes, especially the metal one.
Although I do like the enameled brass box I do wonder why the lid is expertly enameled and the lower part is not. When I do look at the whole thing there are dirt remains on several places, the sharp edged engraving is new as done yesterday. At least it looks from the pics.
Concerning the ring I have had the same thoughts like Gaspare.
Within the last 5 - 6 years I personally could observe that socalled "Wiking- Broschen" (wiking brooches) as parts of a lot of -at least- dobious groups. I personally have seen e.g. such a brooch with its document of bestowal to SSObstGruf Hauser(!!!). The brooch had also an engraving of dedication to Hauser. My question was what an SSObstGruf should do with a womans brooch? The answer (from the provider) has been "oh, just a bestowal, he was not intended to wear it...." ;-)))))
To me most of those certain wiking brooches are spurious (naturally there do exist doubtless originals!) and such groups typical put together groups.
Regards,
Very interesting guys- thanks for the info about the brooch!
Nice brooch, although sun wheel swastika is a different story. IMO post war added as you can see engraving was not professionally done. Have seen a lot of items like this one on dealer sites throughout years where they would get a cultural Nordic item then add some of the symbols used in Third Reich to boost up the price.
Example is exactly like this viking ship pin that you can buy for about $20 but that I have seen sell on a dealer site for 1.5k just because had SS runes engraving on the sails!
cast ring. Loads of flaws.
Sold by a renowned auction house for this much money.
Of course this ring is a bad quality cast copy.
I think we should rename this thread in "suspicious auctions"
I agree Mike. Those casting "pock marks" don't help. Ron
cast ring. Loads of flaws.
And this is just terrible.
Thats terrible to do..
The horizontal line is the seam from splitting the rubber mold open to get the wax model out.. They didn't even try to do any blending etc. to the wax before doing their investment cast..Sad..
Please nothing wrong with naming the dealer. Please do so we can extra careful when looking at this dealers pieces!
But i think we should be more and more careful. Always,no matter from wich source the stuff is sold.
hi odel
members hermann historica auctions list this cast fake Oswald Boelcke ring what a shame to list junk and cast copies on such a prestigious auction haus but it seems this is certainly not the first time and it isnt going to be the last greed /money etc they just dont seem to care about thier military bussiness hope all agrees god bless andy militarynut
I think too , that first ring in topic - fake (newmade). I dont beleave in original it
sunwheel swas added to plentiful estonian or Croatian viking ship. makes me think the ring is also fake.
