What's the thought on this gents? Also what are these little red lines on the pictures... Is it a copyrighting thing? Love to hear thoughts from the crowd- it's been a while since we have all posted a thought on an HR! Totenkopfring CG auction

Looks like fibers from a cleaning rag.

Interesting ring.
Very hard worn, still more than my Adler HR, but looks good to me.
I am excited to see for how much this ring will sell.

Man,
That ring is heavily worn....reminds me of the benson ring.....that thing can't be worth more than a couple K!

Perhaps this is the one that CG could do a metal composition analysis on. As he stated in his book. Drill it and fill it. Still a worthwhile collectable for a grand or so.

What do you guys think this one will go for?

I agree with odal, this ring I think is a good one.....imho I have a 36' and the inscriptions look bang on....

It's hard to say.. Auctions are weird. Even like eBay -one item won't get a single bid and need to be relisted but the same one an hour later will go for big bucks. I'm gonna guess with the thread it certainly helps the item get more interest but it's not a big dollar hr by any means. I hate to say it but it's gonna be worth what someone will pay for it. It might bring more non ring guys to the table with a lower start price than other hrs but IMHO I think the start price is plenty high- for a worn ring like that. II would be surprised if the bids ran away like a no reserve eBay listing with lots of looks. Tough call.

Another factor is where and who has it listed. I am afraid that anything CG list is going to scrutinized for his past actions. Folks will argue that it is fair, but the your reputation is your biggest advertiser and if that is flawed, then you have problems. Ron

I agree with ya mike, that start price is about what it's worth for a collector, but never know, i'v seen a smoothie go for 4K before....now that is crazy!! And as far as Craig goes well.....we all know about him....

Indeed.. But aren't we a forgiving bunch?

And no don COA, Craig says he will give his but we all know what's that's worth.....i dunno if I were in the market for a "smoothie" I would stay away from this one. I think if don were to give this one the thumbs down it would be hard to return to him.

Photos credit C.G. auctions:

- Man,,what happened in there! Did they use something to artificially 'age' / smooth out the inside band engraving??
OR,,was there something wrong in the inner band and a polish and or tool was used and left the marks above and below??
Wonder who got it and the price paid,,,hope it wasn't too much.........

Plus all the fees, that's quite a price.
