Hi all, just got back from a fun show in Akron- managed to find 2 really awesome Italian made dak rings...and I kept my shopping to just that, so I was happy! No one had any skulls to trade for my Teno badge, so that's all I picked up...here's some pics of one of them, really a beautiful ring IMO. I'm in love with the device on the cartouche, a Sicilian "trinacia"...haven't seen one like this, but the detail is insane...figured maybe the dak vet was Sicilian, just my guess....check it out!

Good question--Its an Italian-made dak ring, they were made for purchase by Italian soldiers of the dak primarily, but also some German soldiers had the Italian made ones as well...the hallmarks identify it as a well known period maker of these pieces from Milan. I would imagine that the personalized option was in the cartouche, I'm guessing the shank African items to be standard to the ring....so, like I said my best guess is the soldier was from Sicily, and personalized his ring to reflect that.

Yes,,,a really nice looking ring, especially to us Sicilians! wink

Maybe it is Italian made for the Allies.. Many landed in Sicily!..

Is the hallmark the 1934 to 1944? or the 1944 to 1968?

Looks more like the one on top. You can almost see it in the ring pic...I think it's letters "MI" though, for Milan. Looks like a "14" on the other side of the fasces (Enrico Locatelli).
