Could it be that Burgsmuller scabard throat is unpainted? The logo is the late (short) variation, the CG & national emblem are in nickel silver.
Possible but every one I have seen were painted. A burgsmuller scabbard should have screws on the sides slightly toward the back and a number stamped under the frog stud.
An observation I could make is that most NPEA Burgsm�ller scabbards do lack any primer. Therefore it can happen that the (original) laquer can be pulled away in stripes. Perhaps this scabbard mouth for any reason got this "treatment" by chance during his lifetime and therefore is now without laquer any more?
