Good afternoon to all

Here is a TeNo hewer whose number was "stamped" on the scabbard and blade and not etched with acid. This corresponds with an early N° piece ... I knew that was done with the officer dagger and i hadn't seen it with EM hewer yet ...

Can you confirm this is legit ? Do we have an idea from which N° the marking went from stamped to etched in the blade ?

Many thanks

Under the garda numbers were stamped early, not etched, and just less than a thousand in front is ZERO-like Leader.

Your hewer appears completely correct for an early produced item with the issue number being stamped on the scabbard throat & blade underneath the crossguard. Later produced pieces show a number etched on the blade & in some very rare cases, etched on the scabbard as well.

TeNo Leader daggers are similarly done with early issue examples (roughly 2200 & under) having the number stamped into the blade & scabbard throat.

Due to my personal lists as Billy G. stated, leaders daggers do change around 2200 from stamped (lower numbers) to etched (higher numbers) numbers.
Hewers obviously did change somewhere between 1100 and 1400.
It is also interesting that the numbering of daggers/hewers is a mixup, which means eg. a hewer has #1100, a leaderīs dagger #1101 and perhaps the next one could be a hewer again with #1102.

Good morning all

thank you very much for your answers ...

whoa ! You mean a number like 10.000 stands for 5.000 EM & 5.000 officier daggers ? I never understood the numbers were split between the 02 types !! i thought it was 10.000 EM + 10.000 officier !!! If so, i understand better the "scarce" aspect of this TeNo stuff ... I thought it was more common than that ...

Here are some extra photos : The hanger has 1937 on the back ... i thought the dagger were manufactured from 1938 .. is that correct ?

HERR ZEDEM, sorry this is a misunderstanding or I did express wrong.
I wanted to say that there has not been a row of leader daggers (eg. numbers 1-1000) and the rest (eg. 1001 up to 1xxxx) are enlisted hewers, but the numbers are mixed up. Herwers do follow leader daggers and later hewers again and leader daggers again and so on.
It is for sure that there have been MUCH more hewers than leader daggers.
BTW nice hanger which could be (from the pics) a scarce original one.
