Following my first error with regard to Fire Leaders daggers (thanks Billy), here's one I KNOW is right! and what makes it even more appealing are the 3rd Reich period straps which were mistakenly marketed by the vendor as Hitler Youth Leaders and acquired just days after the dagger, having been told I would never find a set!=Karma!!
I find the set-in-place knot particularly appealing

back to back Eickhorn mark showing a twenties production period, but carried unchanged through the 3rd Reich era
Great pictures of a hard to find dagger.
I have managed to score a double oval serrated tail over CE version, but without your great accoutrements.
I am still looking for a definit TR era version (one with the seated squirrel holding sword or the over shoulder TM).
John
Thanks John
As I'm sure you know (but I didn't!) Eickhorn continued to produce these right up till their demise using a variety of marks including pre-war. I also tried to find one with appropriate Third Reich trade mark, but found that even the piece I obtained from one of the largest dealers turned out to be post war-and there lies the benefit of:
A:buying from the big guys-no hassles with return privileges. and
B:having experts -and I hope friends-on this forum who offer advice willingly and freely.
Long live GDC!

Paul, glad you got the wrongly described "HJL" hangers. they look just great with your Feuerwehr-Dolch, where they properly belong. Wonderful rare set you have now, congrats.
Thanks Barry, much appreciated-tho not quite complete- still looking for a black belt loop with a pebbled 'd' ring-eyes down at Chatham!! LOL
Paul
Have two, Paul; only prob' is they are with a belt rig. we can talk at the dockyard show.
Paul,
That's a super rig you've got. My Eickhorn has the same back to back mark, not the oversized modern mark that we see on Eban every other week. Great looking dagger, unquestioningly period. Congratulations my friend.
I love too how the knot adds that element of character to the dagger. Over the years I've seen all types of Weimar era knots attached to Fire Official daggers but this one with the 2 red stripes & red dot is correct for Feuerwehr service. Some believe this size knot is proper for a period degen but that said, I've seen enough of them on daggers to give me pause, whatever the reason. Either way, it looks great where it it.
The hangers are the icing on the cake, so hard to find in any condition. They just finish the picture. Well done!
Thanks a million Billy-we finally got there!
Paul
