Next dagger.
We have tried to compare only the daggers of the same producers and one period. Realizing that some companies may have significant differences. But as it turned out, the original daggers, even from different manufacturers were more similar than the originals in comparison with the fakes. And just fake daggers of different models have many similarities. A variety of stamps, and models is impressive. Today I show RLB which I purchased from Sokol (as he is better known in Russia)- anlvd2, and comparative pictures I will add tomorrow. Comparison was made between weyersberg daggers. One of other dagger from Moscow (my friend purchased same source) and second dagger bought from amerikan dealer.I put these pictures in order that you would have understood that the level of fraud is very high and often no experience in the identification of fakes are easy to buy as the original.

With the increased sophistication of these fakes in even the less expensive dagger types, I wonder if there is a somewhat simpler method of identification?
As many collectors, particularly those in England have little chance to attend Fairs where many daggers are displayed and thus may be compared, perhaps it would be useful to attempt to discover some other yardstick by which originality may be established-weight maybe? May i ask anyone with both an original and a fake of a particular dagger type to make some comparitive measurements? After all its a useful guide with, say, Knights crosses?

These new crossguards appear to be good enough to replace the many de nazified cross guards on the RLB's.

In fairness it should be noted that the fake insignia RLB are on the reverse side the name of the manufacturer. Although fake eagles from grip SA and the SS is also often branded manufacturer.

Great work here Den70 smile ...all collectors need to see these very important threads on current super fakes daggers.

Already I have seen one of these scarce Type 1 Officer RLB repros in big auction house.
I was suspicious only because other daggers were common models then this one turns up in near mint condition but with good looking patina.

You can not tell these daggers are fake by simple auction type photos....someone got stuck for over $5,000. -glad it wasn't me, but I feel sorry for the guy who did.

Well deserved Patrons award for Den70. -Congratulations- !

Wow!

Scary things... Another reason to avoid the 'Bargain Houses' and stick to reputable guys, like Serge or Paul Hogle.

And, another reason to get provenance for these high end items.

Thank you, Den.

NOW THIS DAGGER I AGREE WITH DEN 70 AS IT IS BAD! Shape of the grip, blade, crossguard (a dead giveaway), TM, etc.. Easy to spot IMO. Thank You!

Gentlemen, thank you for rating my themes. This is not only my merit is the merit of many competent collectors in Russia and Ukraine. These topics would not be complete and more informative as if we had not shared information and helped each other. Many collectors in Russia and Ukraine have their own methods and knowledge to identify these fakes. Their contribution is greate is Ilya, booteen, atis, Alex1-72, ivan66, Dolan. Thank you so much-F.J.Stephens, D. Landers, (LTC) Johnson, T.Wittmann, Ron Weynand, P.Hogle, B.Iqbal, B.Maerder. Without their information, and devices from them would not have these comparisons.
