Rob, I've got some concerns on the M42 SS decal, as the shape of the runes is not what I would expect. JR
JR , what do you think is wrong with it ?
The way that the runes are placed on the helmet you mean?
Rob, Take a look at these from a period ET/CKL helmet. What is the maker on the one that you show Sir ?
Rob, not really the way that the decal was placed on the helmet, but the shape of the runes themselves and the roundedness of the bottom of the shield.
CKL
JR ,this is as close as I can get .
Btw , is that a Pocher decal?
Sir, the one on yours doesn't look like what is normally seen with a Pocher, Q, EF, nor ET decal that I'm aware of. Hopefully the gurus will assist on this as well.
Ok ,I was worried that you meant some other people , that since the last 2 years started to think that everything that he sees is fake.
( thats what I heard from some big names here )
Early on during the beginning of GDC, I purposely tried to fool that Ole Boy, but could never do it. I gave a little test on the forum by placing a variety of known good helmet photos in with some known repos. He nailed all 10 to a tee........ When he's talking,I'm listening!
Well guys , check this out .
Looks the same .....

Even the decal is under the same angle applied.
Rob
I see nothing wrong with that decal on the 2nd helmet you posted. Appears correct to me. As for the writing on the skirt...Seems too bright. White after 60+ years would have aged to a yellowish hue. IMO
Can you provide a better quailty photo of yours? Daylight conditions without direct sunlight. A flash will also washout any important details.
I agree. here is its evil twin without the fake aging.
This same decal is recently discussed on WAF and GHW and tries to copy a 1940 pattern ET in my opinion.
I would really think that those 2 decals are the same .
And for the writing that didnt turn yellow , it depends wich paint they used to apply it.
more pics of the decal.

the decal is damaged at the bottom , maybe thats why it looks rounded , to me its looks like the same one as I posted also.
Rob,
What is the batch number of the m42 SS?
Bryan
Hi Bryan , all that I can make out are the digits 534, after long study...
Is there a way to see it clearer without messing up the helmet?
Regards , Rob.
Bryan , make that 2534 or 2504 , I am cleaning it VERY carefully.
Jr , Robert H and SStk , what is wrong with it then ?
Its the same as the other one posted.
Rob.
Sir, I'm not going to get bated into the same thing that happend on the sword, 1st model Luft etc. The SS decals that you've posted on this topic are not of the 3rd Reich period. You can believe it or not.
Hi. The named m 42 helmet decal is good ET imo. The "first" topic m 42 helmet decal is a hard one! I have some concerns with lower part of runes (left bottom), and shield (would expect not so rounded). So it dont seem 100% right for a typical ET decal, but I do think it have a chance.. (judged by the pics and condition). Interesting....look forward to more opinions.
Best, norge
Hi Rob, IMO I posted another decal that is a known fake and the one you posted on the helmet imo is the same one. Norge clarified some of what I see in it as well.
Jr, seems that we have a problem then .
Darryl saw the pics and he liked it.
Hi
I think the FJ SD helmet has a lot of character. I love the mismatch slots? What is the maker of the M40 LW helmet?. It look like a very clean helmet. I would love to get a close uo of the decal.
regards
Juan
Small world it is....the M40 luft looks like one of my ex helmets. It should be a E.F. 62
Someone has messed with the chin-strap! Its not the strap the helmet had in 2005, as I sold the lid to a Dutch collector (Fernando v. W.).
Thats the best M40 luft with E.F. decal I ever saw and had (mint as mint could be). Helmet and decal has been discussed twice and tripple on WAF btw.
Nice FJ helmet, no concerns..
Thanks Juan and Gerd ,and Gerd , you are right , it is a E.F 62.
Rob.
