Went to a gun show today and found a German helmet. Wanted to see what you guys think. Was able to take photos, do not know much about helmets, but I do know the liner looks fake. Thanks for the help once again.

Yep, liner is **aged** or modern *antiqued**

Looks like they put brown shoe dye on it to me.

Artificially aged liner for sure and the Adler decal shows some "interesting" damage that can only be seen on that decal.

The tricolor shows a strange discoloration on the bottom...

For me a no go.

Ya, I kind of had a feeling it was to good to be true. I noticed those problems with the decals as well but do not know much about how to tell fakes from real. But the shell looks original, along with the chin strap if I am correct.

In your opinion what is it worth? I know it is fake but would not make a bad display piece, if I remember correctly the guy wants only $300 for it. Thanks for all the help Panzer.

Yeah usually refurbs go for $300-$400...depending on the size of the shell and how they refurbished it.

Original helmet agree refurbed to look like Navy DD no story to go with it like it was brought back from Cherbourg etc if so these shows have changed in 25 yrs I have been too much BS from these crooks for me I had hopes they might get better? timothy

I would say in the 400 range...If you want a nice one this guy does top shelf helmets.
