Doesn't look german to me.

Not even WWII IMHO.

Looks like a nice condition original German belt to me. The hook was made by F.W.Assmann and has a marked length of 105cm. I can't tell if it's black or brown.

The leather size adjustment, does look a little thicker than normal. Can you post a photo of this area and also the stiching by the hook ?

Looks good to me. Could it be a police belt with that catch?

A typical Assmann made assembly for an aluminum buckle, like the police box buckles.

Thanks for the pic ORPO,look how it goes.I have a buckle, but without the leather part.Where there buckles made without the leather or it was a standard in every buckle?I want to know how the buckle looks mounted on the belt, I still don't get it.

The leather portion attached to the buckle was to prevent slippage.

I don't know whether one can give a definitive answer to say what portion of buckles came with leather tabs and which didn't, but rest assured that those that did were done usually at the same factory that produced the buckle.

I do have in my collection three wrapped, unissued buckles that did not come with leather keepers. They are Rodo produced Heer buckles.

The tabs were discontinued in 1943. When you come across any tabs that are '44 or '45 dated -they are reproductions! Late war buckles did not have tabs on them.

This is not totally true. The Police Buckle that was made in one of the eastern countrys has a leather tab and are well known to have been made in 1944. Crude and unmarked, these are real and have a leather tab.

Hi Ron....aye...You are right....late war polizei buckles do have tabs. I have such a buckle in my collection. I should have specifed that MAKER MARKED tabs were discontinued in '43.

Cheers!

I have also seen this type of catch used on police buckles such as this one.

Here's the stitching closeup near the hook as requested.

I still think it's a good one. I'm not used to seeing the stiching squared like in your last photo. Usually it's done in a 'U' shape(like this)but, you can see the outline the stiching was susposed to go.
