Be great for Ric or JP to see these , hopefully they will have a chance..
JP showed me that when the first AL SS copies came out the main problem was,,the leather belt would not go thru them! Made too small, so try putting a period leather belt thru the buckle.. This defect in the copy was remedied within months but still a quickie to do to Aluminum SS buckles..

Thanks for the reply Gaspare, I don't have a belt so I measured it and a !.5 inch belt would fit on it. regards Walter

I took a photo of the aluminum SS buckle by a tape measure. Hope that tells the story. Regards Walter

I have one more buckle from this grouping to show. And then how I display them. It's nice to be able to collect these historical items but then there is the problem of how to display them. And then the problem of where to put the display. Regards Walter

I found a picture of the group I took back in 2011. Hard to believe a son would let his dads bring back go. Regard Walter

the kids don't care! , They barely teach anything on WW2 in schools. The kids know nothing about famous battles, famous/infamous personalities or even the Holocaust.. Ask a 30 year old to name who was in the Axis or what is Sobibor or what the SA is and less than half could answer you. A current high schooler now?? forget it!!

That was a great haul you got! The display came out really good...

Yes, I'm afraid they're not being taught much about history. That is sad. Another nice item in this group that I think was a coin pouch . It resembles a German cap. Walter

that is cool! you called it, a purse,,or for cigg packs etc, - ,,what is that bracelet?
Posted By: landwehr Re: buckles - 04/02/2020 09:46 PM
Don't know who made the bracelet. I believe it's a uniform clasp for a bomber crewman, very well done, I wear it often. Walter

sterling! Yeah some sort of device , maybe for a cap. Not exactly sure of emblem,,maybe someone will see and confirm for you..

Very nice, well made..yeah thats a A+..

The bracelet is made from a set of WW2 US air crewman's wings. The wings were first authorized in July, 1942.
