Please tell me if this belt buckle is a period one and what kind of buckle is this ? I have never seen something like this before.

according to J.R. Angolia's book-Belt Buckles and Brocades of the Third Reich,this is illustrated in the Assmann sales catalog:Assmann #18491. This pattern buckle is purported to have been worn by the members of the Freikorps Sudetenland,but no exact information is available.Originally brass buckle with a Silver wash plate.
