Here are two views of the same picture of Omaha Beach and on of a p[re-invasion pep talk. That First Sargent really looks thrilled.
I was there in 1949/50 when the temporary graveyards were still there and there were great mounds of rusting vehicles waiting to be scraped. Endless pill boxes all over the place. By 1979 it was all cleaned up.
