More than 20 years ago I picked up this dagger at the market in Warsaw and gave it to my brother for my nephew. This week he handed it back to me and suggested I sell it. So I figure how much is it worth. The metal par of the dagger appears to have been in a river or ground for a while. It has nice grip plates but the emblem has no bumps under the enamel at all. I have hope for the scabbard. It looks original although painted badly. The snap is labeled "Nuovo" over "capica".

Do I have anything here?

No, you have an item of little or no collectible value. It's only value is that of 'parts'. Those parts would be of relatively small value.

It does have more value in the story behind it which is of no value at all to anyone else other than you and your relative.

Keep it and keep the personal value in that family history.

That is indeed a rough HJ-knife...
Can you find any marking on the blade?

Best regards,

Herman

Hi Herman.
There is an RZM stamp on the blade and the last two numbers are either 78 or /8.

Jim,

Decent steel in those blades. Little collector value but maybe a good camp knife or garden knife ?

I just got a reply from my Nephew that my brother, his father, never told him I bought him the knife. He wants it so Texas is correct. Best to go with the memory.

Thank you guys. I appreciate your input.

And Dave, you are right. I saw several of these growing up in people's tool boxes. They are good knives.
