Below is a scan of one of those 3"X4" B&W prints you see at shows. They are really more newspaper photos on glossy paper than real photos.

Notice the trumpeter on the right. That does not look like an HJ knife. Any ideas?

Interesting picture indeed... Could it be musical device of some kind? Or an axe maybe?

Looks like a bayonet frog was used to carry it..

I have no idea. The photo was with several others and I noticed the thing/device/??? so I thought I would ask.

I suspect you are looking at a fife. The HJ Musician in front of him is also wearing one so this musician probably plays more than the trumpet.

Yes, could be the drumstick "frog" for lack of a better term...there was an RZM marked item on offer at EBay.de quite recently.
