Here are a couple of photos i bought recently. The first one is a high ranking Navy officer, and he looks like he got some sort of honour dagger. The scabbard has the nice paneling. Any thoughts on this?

Another officer with what looks like a navy dagger, but he seems to have army insignia on his visor. Anyone know what he is?

Dagger. Notice he must have had a loose pommel, as its its back to front.

Lewis,
FANTASTIC photos! Th chased scabbard in the first pic. is really great, although it like like Ernst needs to brush up on his "reef knot" skills. Big Grin
Thanks for posting,
Johnny

What he is: Is in BIG truoble for being "out of uniform" unless his rank gives him privilege. Big Grin

Is it possible that one or more of them is Coastal Artillary?

I can't see the design of the crossguards, but my guess would be that it is an updated Imperial Naval Dagger

I also tend to think that these men are coastal artillerie. The man second from left has the typical marine oak leaf around his cap cocade.
Very nice and interesting pics, thank you for showing. They also would have fitted in the "wearing" thread in the papers and photographs section of the forum Wink.
Concerning the scabbard, it looks like an private extra cost ciseleured scabbard which was offered by several manufacturers, mainly by WKC.
