Hello everyone I have the opportunity to purchase a plain blade Robert Klass kissing cranes stamped logo naval dagger. Are these accepted as being period? Are they not ultra rare........as are the U9 etched blades? Thanks and regards, Ryan

Ryan,

A Klaas Navy dagger would certainly be considered a rare item. I have never seen a plain blade example by Klaas, the few I’ve seen were U9 examples. The fact the logo is stamped would give it a bit more weight IMO. Can you post a couple of pics?

Several years ago, I found a 1st model Navy dagger by Richard Herder. The logo was stamped and had very small lettering. Internal parts were single digit numbered and I’d guess hand fitted. Tom Wittmann and several others I showed it to had never seen nor heard of a Herder Navy. Maybe it was a prototype, in hand it speaks volumes. Never say never.
Hi thanks for your reply I currently have the dagger reserved......I can attempt to send you pictures if you send me your email rsellick@rogers.com cheers, R
So far, I have seen only 2 Robert Klaas (non U9 etched) Kriegsmarine daggers.

Unfortunately, I did not buy the one that was offered to me about 15 years ago...

I am very interested to see yours, Ryan.

Best regards,

Herman
