Gary,

I think that's a later Horster mark. The crossguard does look to have a lot of gilting.

Thanks Billy

I had thought that myself, I can't understand the use of the early style scabbard on it.

Cheers

Hi guys,
in my opinion is it a Reichsmarinedagger pattern 1929 by Alcoso with a replacement eagle. The blade has been replaced. The blade ist postwar.
An early logo by H?rster was a stamped one.
Best,
Oleg.

Thank you Oleg
Is it the case that an etched mark on a Horster dagger is always post war or is there something else on this blade that tells you it is post war?

Hello Gary.
No, an etched logo by H?rster is not always post war. But the late logo of the dagger in this thread is at the false side of the blade.
And H?rster hasn?t used an etch Motiv with a sailing ship with his KM daggers.

Best,
Oleg.

Hello Oleg, do you know if Horster produced a 1929 pattern navy dagger or was their early stamped logo just on their 1938 pattern. Thank you.

Hello Lamby.
I have seen three navy daggers by H?rster from a same crew with a replacement eagles . One eagle was a typical replacement eagle like we do
know them. The other two were in H?rster design. Maybe they were ordered by H?rster from a waffenmeister of the crew. Maybe produced H?rster
replacement eagles as well. I don?t know that for sure. All three logos were stamped. I have also seen a kM daggers with the stamped logos. BUT,
like already said, some replacement eagles on the navy daggers by H?rster looks very close to his eagles for the KM daggers M1938. In my opinion
used H?rster a stamped logos also for an early M1938.
Best,
Oleg.

On Horster navy daggers is it always a post war blade if the mark is on the same side as the catch.
