HI FELLAS - AS TO THE ALU GUARD AND POMMEL, I CANT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT FAKE ONES SO I FIGURE DESPITE THE PRETTY POOR CASTING THEY'RE OK. (TW'S ARMY BOOK P.35 CALLS THIS GUARD DESIGN 'RARELY SEEN'-THO HE SHOWS A NON-ALU ONE)

BY THE WAY, SOMEONE SHELLAC'D THEM, MAYBE TO DISGUISE THE BUBBLED PLATING (?) OR MAYBE IT'S EXTRA TRICK ZAPON ? ANYHOW, HOW BEST TO REMOVE?

FOR ITS PART, THE PLATED, NO TANG-MARK 'EARLY' BLADE HAS A MID-PERIOD HOLLER LOGO I'M A LITTLE DUBIOUS OF.

FINALLY, THE BOTTOM-MOST GRIP SEGMENT STARTS OUT MUCH 'FATTER' THAN THE ONES ABOVE IT THEN LOSES WEIGHT AS IT SPIRALS UP.

WOULD MUCH APPRECIATE COMMENTS, AND THANKS ALL IN ADVANCE!

thanks again for all input!
The pommel is a Holler variant i have seen before and used to own one. You do see it paired with this Pack guard and it has hand enhancement to the head attributed to Holler and its typed by army collectors as Holler Type-2 all though i can not see it in your pictures - see my crossguard reference Crossguard Reference The maker mark looks OK to me and i will differ the grip question. I would leave it as is as anything you do will probally look worse then it does now eek The fittings are not aluminum but silver plated base metal as evident by the plate lifting seen on the guard and pommel.
many thanks for this, 'Collector! what's a fair value range - and I don't mean The Two Toms….
Sorry i do not give values they are subjective with too many factors smile
Agree with Tom, definitely not aluminum and fittings look good for mid period Holler.. be nice to look at the scabbard screw and band types too. Best, Kevin.
thanks you good folk. scabbard: single- (brass) throat screw, lightly-enhanced bands
sounds ok.. pics would clinch it though.
scabbard
? pix didn't load here they are again -
