Anyone have any idea what maker this may be??
thanks
Bob
I can't say that I have ever see this mark before.
Can we get pics of the grips and the scabbard? Any other mark on the other side?
John
Hi Bob.
Herbertz&Meuerer.
Best, Oleg.
That's the mark of Herbertz & Meurer, Solingen-Gräfath, still in operation as of 2002.
A small cottage maker, known for SAs & some HJ knives. I've seen this mark before on a Luft2 & I think a Heer dagger. It's been disputed as postwar but as we've all learned in this hobby, "never say never".
Just from the picture, this particular mark looks like it's on the surface of the blade & not stamped or etched into it. Photo etched maybe?
It is not etched into the blade. I do have the scabbard also, but has a dent, tight to get into the scabbard.
I will be listing this for sale soon.
Thanks,
Bob
Just a heads up, I have seen this mark on repro blades. The shape of the blade looks a litte wide?
What Ron means is, that the middle segment of the blade looks wide. And yes, it definately looks to wide. And yes, this could be a hint for at least a fake blade.
Is the grip solid or thin celluloid filled?
