Guys,
I have this Höller army dagger in my collection for years and always had mixed feelings about it.
Now I've seen Tom's beautiful Höller dagger and decided to show it and ask your opinions.

As you can see on the photos the dagger comes with a correct Höller scabbard, the TM is a rarely seen but correct version, the blade has shouldered tang, Pack cross guard and pommel.
So far so good.
But the grip is a mystery (at least for me). It is made of white plastic (trolon?). To tell you the truth all the white slant grips I've seen were ivory grips. Plus I have never seen a fake slant grip before.

What is your opinion? Parts dagger?
Anybody has seen a plastic white slant grip before?

Any opinions are welcome.

Janos

That is a curious one Janos! The grip is so thin and very strait in its profile. The fittings are an acceptable type but don't really show the typical Holler 2nd hand enhancing to the eagle... not saying they are wrong as I have seen other Hollers like this but not as comforting as the Holler enhanced fittings. I cant say on the slant grip.. really unusual.. sure its not Ivory right? smile How is the grip to tang fit.. tight or sloppy? Kevin.

I once got an SMF slant that had what turned out to be an orange plastic slant grip. Needless to say it went straight back from whence it came. Repro slant grips are not common but they are out there. The weight will be the give away. The plastic grips are usually lighter weight. That certainly isn't phenolic resin or it would have coloured. Fittings are alright IMO. Pommel is typical.

For me the grip is not correct : for LW daggers the grips have "anti clock wise" strias direction and WH and KM have clock-wise ones like cork screws !

Can you confirm ?

I have seen this dagger in person and can say that everything looks like it came together at the same time. The maker mark is the early 19 tick Holler makr that one would expect on a tapered tang and the grip looks and feels like it was there forever.

Hi Janos,
i'm not an army collector, but what do you think about the TM and the "dots" on the scabbard? The dots are in a gentle circular motion, which i only know from reproductions.
Just my thoughts,
Regards,
Gerd
