Tangs, especially from navy blades (which have to fit into a relatively small, fragile grip - due to the wood core) can and mostly (always?) do show heavliy grinding.
From These few and only showing a certain details pics I cannot see any red flag. Seems to be a WKC or unmarked blade?
Please show the whole dagger or when there is only a blade, at least the whole blade.

... what Wotan is saying is not wrong, but maybe it is a little bit more difficult. We see this from time to time, even with Imperial pieces. In any cases these areas should show some age and patina.
If not it would always bother me, especially when I have nothing else to compare, like the matching numbers of nearly all parts one can see from a 1938 Hörster for example or on most Imperial daggers. If so, one should really compare the signs of age and patina on the entire dagger, they should match perfectly.
All these work should have been done professionally, not to rough. Most of these adjustements I've seen were done with a file, just a very few with a grind Stone.
As Wotan mentioned, we do need some better photos of the entire dagger w/o using any flash or at minimum from the area with the grinding.

I see no problem as to authenticity.
The 1st time I saw this fresh looking grinding on a dagger I was concerned . As a matter of fact I passed on the dagger . It was a G/O dagger . Since then I have come to realize that this can be quite normal . You have to analyze the whole dagger . But my point is that it can be acceptable to see this fresh looking grinding on some daggers . JMO
I agree with Grumpy. I also see no problem as to authenticity.
rocky, as said, the grinding is no red flag. Find attached a heavily grinded tang of an EICKHORN of mine.
Perhaps it is the light of the photograph but is the grip the common wood cored celluloid covered grip?
Normally I do not recommend to disassamble daggers but as it was done already....

There is nothing inconsistent with this dagger in terms of authenticity. Quit worrying and start enjoying your genuine example.

Thank you for all your help. Wotan, the grip is the type with the wood insert. The reason I initially took it apart is because the locking button wasn't working. Someone apparently had it apart before me & put the button back in wrong. It is working fine now.

A wood core grip is quite ok. So I also see not the least red flag concerning the dagger.
