Recently came across this Heer at a local militaria show, first spotted the slant grip, then the Weyersberg guard...OK getting better and better, been looking for a Weyersberg. Next step is to get the owner of this table to break this out from under the glass, OK its out, looks really nice...turn it over and..its jeweler personalized!! All at a very reasonable price! This is one of the best reasons to be in this hobby, discovery of a fresh artifact one step at a time! (special thanks to Tom Kendall "WW2 Collector" who guided me along through this experience via cell! grin)

Notes on this piece.. internally numbered "350" on the guard and pommel, Weyersberg's exclusive "big eye" guard with unique "textured" area to the background of the swastika inside of wreath, wonderful hand work to the pommel and scabbard bands(scabbard has typical "Weyersberg flaw line"), Non-magnetic scabbard and rings(I assume the scabbard is brass based, rings have me mystified! I think they may be solid nickle silver? a first for me!), came with original accessories, hanger with early brass fittings and portopee, check out the pics and enjoy...

Kevin,
Wow, that one is a beauty, they do not come any better than that and personalised. Very nice example of a highly desirable maker. Absolutely love the eagle and the typical stippling behind the swastika.
Congratulations smile

THANKS Tanker and Degens! Really like it. I have noticed alot of jeweler personalized Weyersbergs too? I wonder if they offered this from the factory or something like this through a popular uniform shop? The style of engraving is often very similar. Kevin.

Kevin
Possible and another(!) variation/option we need to investgate. With these armies, it is a constant search. One of my favorites of all daggers. Ron

That`s a great dagger Kevin! Really top notch!
Yes, it is nice when you get fix isn`t it?
Have not bagged a heer dagger in 12 months myself
& getting to feel a bit frustrated by it TBH.

Tanker I think that is probably a B using the
H to form it?

Thanks.
Kevin, did not mean to intrude on your thread, sorry. Ron

THANKS Landser, hope my story inspired you to go out and get your own "fix" and then come here and share it with us! wink

Ron, no problems! your always welcome here!

BTW nice you have a brass scabbard. Mine is too and one of only 5 early pieces I have with brass. It was discontinued very early. The others are ACS, Eickhorn, WKC & both Holler`s. One Holler has the `B` grip.
there are a lot of slant`s with steel scabbards and the B grip was assuredly available very early.

Landser, Yea.. I was glad to find it was brass based, I have had alot of early Heeres through my hands but this is my first! Who are the other makers you have with brass based scabbards? What do you think of the scabbard rings on your Weyersberg by the way? Mine feel too light to be brass but are not magnetic, no signs of plating loss from rubbing on the holes in the bands either! Like they are solid nickle silver?

Kevin boy you hit a home run on this one. I love the Cyclops eye much more desirable IMO then #200 down with the WKC guard. Now that pommel is one of the best you could hope for fantastic work. They don’t come much better then this! Congratulations Kevin. Nice presentation and pictures as well.

Thanks Tom, fun discovering it with you. My pictures on the other hand need to be apologized for compared to yours. Not the best light today or camera, I need a tripod too my hands are not steady enough!

Kevin it certainly was fun and the one of the best parts of the hobby is getting to share your collection with other like minded collectors. Your pictures are very nice I really like the color of the background. It certainly is interesting how many early Weyersbergs are personalized I suspect one of their prominent retailers/distributors possibly had an in house jeweler or a close relationship with one?

Kevin...
Super find!!!
That is an awesome dagger to say the least. I hit all the local gun shows also but have never found a jewel like this. Although it is internally marked 350 it's probably one of your top 10 army's.
Well done!!!

Kevin,
you have a beautiful dagger, congratulation!!!
I agree with you: all the early Paul Weyersberg personalizations are VERY similar.
I tend to think they all were made by the same jeweler.
Of course it is just a theory, but all the early monograms have the very same style.

I will post my personalized Weyersberg tomorrow.

And again: congrats!

Photos of my personalized Weyersberg.
As you can see it has mismatched numbers 312 on the tang and 410 on the grip. and no numbers on the crossguard.
But take a look at the personalization! The style of the engraving is absolutely the same to Kevin's and Ron's dagger.
I assume these came from the same jeweler.

Very nice comparison pics of the engraving style Janos! I agree with you that this was most likely a in house service of Weyersberg or a very popular military wares store! The price for this must have been very reasonable because so many took advantage of it! Very nice Grip and hand work to the crossguard of your Weyersberg Janos! Thanks for your post..Kevin.
