I just received this Weyersberg. The blade is plated, but still has the logo located far up the blade. It has the tapered tang, and slant grip. The numbers are higher than any I have seen, and mismatched. The blade & grip are marked 470, the guard 540.

Beautiful Weyersberg Wolfgang!
It is around the 500 mark that it was thought the numbering stopped. 540 is the highesst I am aware of. All the later numbered pieces I have seen thus far had the MM higher so this one is an interesting piece. Why the mis-match? How can we begin to speculate? Maybe the engraver made a mistake and they had to procure another x guard. We`ll never know but it doesn`t really matter. Very nice piece you have and congratulations on a rare find.
Wolfgang,
Spectacular dagger!!! Looks to be in superb condition. I really like the personalization.
Very nice photography.
Thanks for showing.

Hi Wolfgang,
your photos are top notch, as usual.
Aren't you irritated by mismatching numbers on a German weapon?

SUPER Weyersberg! Congrats and thanks for showing so nicely. Kevin.
Thank you for all the kind comments. It has been a real pleasure to see some of the outstanding Heer daggers shown in this Forum in the last few weeks.
Though I have collected daggers for many years, I have taken a special interest in Heer dagger only a few Month ago. I do love the early, heavy and somewhat slimmer early pieces. I have a lot to learn, but that is the joy of collecting. This forum has been a great resource, though it is unfortunate that some of the early threads have now gone.

great dagger, congratulations to it
