Many of us have picked up a ribbon bar or two or more.
Please share them.
--dj--Joe
Since KVK's are ongoing topics at the moment, thought it an opportune moment to share this example.

Joe great topic......DAVE H
Here's a couple of odds and ends...
40 year LS bar.
25 year NSDAP with S&L maker buttonholer (replacement ribbon).
RAD LS and mini.
Dave H., Stephen, nice examples.
--dj--Joe
They do not come along often locally for some odd reason. A few singles and once in a blue moon a multiple. The first example is my only show buy.
Did pick this multiple up localy. Not showy but the soldier covered some ground to get them.

This ribbon bar is fastened through 4 loops and also sewn on in addition to that to my Forestmaster's tunic.
..and here a ribbon bar of the length you like to see/keep on my Gendarmerie Police tunic .
SOME NICE LOOKING RIBBON BARS,KEEP THEM COMING...DAVE H
Here an other ribbon bar with military and civil service .
..and a close-up
Imperial Ribbon bar , half size of normal dress bar .
Ribbon bar with silver grade Croatian Bravery medal device.
..and a closeup of same .
..and here is the actual medal : the Silver Grade Croatian Bravery Medal .
Here now my 2nd Croatian ribbon bar and medal set : the Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir .
This was awarded to Hauptmann Heinrich Ernst of the Nachrichten Komp.d/mot/833 when he was in Zagreb , Croatia where he worked as WEHRMACHTNACHRICHTENOFFIZIER beim DTSCH.BEVOLLM.GENERAL in KROATIEN ;--as his pink paper pass says !
..and a close-up again .
..and even closer !
Here 2 more ribbon bars .
UPS ! I almost forgot , the pink pass for Hptm. Heinrich Ernst has a date cancel of 25.IX.1943 .
ALSO, I have his dog tag that shows his unit as " 3./K.N.A.422" . So, the unit noted on his pass must have been a temporary assignment !
bernd, Great collection, The King Zvonimir 3rd class with bravery wreath is quite rare and not often seen thanks for showing it,i have the 2nd class with wreath and a cased 2nd class with crossed swords....Dave H
Dave : I think the miniture devices on the ribbon bars are the super rare items !
Those are some great ribbon bars guys. Here are the few I have.

My six place ribbon bar with the following awards:
EKII with Spange
Brunswick Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2nd class with the "Bewährungsabzeichen"
KVK with swords
Luftwaffe 4 year service medal
Oct 1938 Medal
Here are a few from my collection.
This first one actually belongs to a named tunic that I have (along with the original owner's pictures). I'll post that in the appropriate forum later.
Description: From a named tunic in my collection.
Sorry...#2 again.
Last one...Hope you enjoy.
Here is my ribbon bar for the 10 and 15 year NSDAP long service awards. Back is plastic.

Thanks Rod. The plastic mounts are not seen as often as metal.
Any others folks?
--dj--Joe
Nice looking bars, do you know if the miniature awards made from zinc or other similar metal or from plastic? I know plastic was not common during that period.
The award devices on the majority of mine are made of a brass base metal. I think some of mine have a silver color base metal but do not think it,s a zinc alloy.
I do not recall reading of plastic devices. Nor would I think a zinc alloy would hold up on the small devices like swords, being brittle. I do not recall seeing a ribbon device with zinc pest.
Good question.
Anyone have magnetic devices? I think some of my full size ribbon devices were magnetic. Will check.
--dj--Joe
Any other examples to add?
This is the last one I picked up.
EKII/one of the Mecklenburg MVKII/ 1914-18, COH w. Swds./Silesian Eagle.
--dj--Joe
Hate to see this grind to a dead stop. There were some great ribbon bars shown, none of which are mine.
--dj--Joe
Here is another one of mine, some people like and some don't. Jim
That is an awesome looking bar. Must be a general or something.
Jim, what do you think about it?
--dj--Joe
Joe, I like it or I would not have bought. Some people think it is a put together bar. Here is a pic of the back. Jim
Kottke tailor label. Not what I was expecting when you wrote some don't like it. I see no red flags. What don't they like, the order?
--dj--Joe
Joe, here is a quote from WAF
After a lot of thought I think this is a put together, or a tailor shop example piece.
I presume that this is a generals ribbon bar given that he has the Bulgarian military merit medal, although I would definately expect to see a crown above the swords, since so highly placed on his bar. Also is the placement of it correct as I can share two examples with you where it is placed at the end of the line.
The last luftwaffe eagle is flying somewhat off course... But this could be down to the fixture of the prongs on the reverse.
The 1939 device is somewhat crude to what I would expect. This is the rarer type device, and all the examples I have ever seen (not many) have been very finely formed/stamped.
There are swords on what appears to be the Hamburg Hanseatic Cross ribbon, could this ribbon be trying to represent something else?
Jim
Joe,
None with maker markings but here are a few Polizei ribbon bars.
There are some interesting ones here including a single police long service ribbon, two long service ribbons, and three long service ribbons. Theoretically, there should only be two long service ribbons from different organizations (i.e. Polizei u. SS) worn but three are possible. The one with the embroidered Pol eagle is sometimes seen but the metal eagles are the norm.
Rotated the medal bar thread so thought to bring this the ribbon bar thread back up also. There must be more to see.

that 11 place bar,,,looks fine.
Nothing glaringly wrong. The devices appear fine as do the awards themselves. The bar is totally conceivable. Even the reverse seems fine..
In our hobby sometimes you get something real good and others just can't believe.. Used to love ribbon bars. All of mine went out with the tide...
Come on guys there has to be some interesting ones in your collection to post here...
Thought to stick this topic for a time. Perhaps we can get some additions.
--dj--Joe
Appears no additions, so I'll unpin this topic.
Been awhile. Will give this another go. I picked up a new example. Will have to dig it out and get some pictures. In the meantime, if you have something to share, please go for it.
--dj--Joe
Joe,, I have a long ish ribbon bar. But it was a sew on type!! no pin/catch, or metal backing at all!
It went thru the flood but it was so unique I washed it etc. and it came out pretty good. I really haven't seen another. . I'll get a couple photos of it and post here..
Love ribbon bars hope to see some more here. Anyway, IF a member has one of these sew on examples please post it,,thanks..
ok, here's that ribbon bar..
This was sewed directly to the jacket! Thin, flat.. now broken in 2 pieces...
was going thru some old photos and realized I had a shot of what some call a very rare ribbon bar..
This is on a Ukrainian volunteers jacket [YBB]. It sold at the last MAX and supposedly heading towards a Ukrainian museum in Toronto.
Has a OstFolk , or Eastern Peoples medal with swords... Jacket I got in Ukraine. A Dutch re issue,,Bar was on loops.. Also a 1st cl OstVolk,,also on loops.. Black collar, no tabs and black shoulder boards, Bevo YBB shield,,buttons German, ink stamps inside for re issue for volunteer. Belt appears to be in good condition but would probably snap in half bent.. ..
Gaspare,
Both nice to see. I have seen sew on bars but never picked one up.
Great to get to see an Ostvolk ribbon.
Thanks for sharing.
--dj--Joe
Forgot I had this small group.
Not technically a ribbon bar.--dj--Joe
Does Anyone have examples to share?
--dj--Joe
Finally got a fair image of my latest ribbon bar. Obverse and reverse.
War merit cross, 2nd class w. swds./NSDAP award, 10 year service /Luftschutz medal 2nd. class.
--dj--Joe
An interesting piece Joe. For some reason ribbon bars have never hit the spot for me, I don't know why...
