There's always a few good Blk,Wound badges at Union but I think you already have all the different makers!

I'd say that mini is good,,and a rare piece.. Hamelmans WB book shows a 'half size' 25mm gold 1914 style that reminds me of yours,,makes sense a WW2 version would carry over..
He lists a bunch of mini sizes - 10mm, 14, 16, 18, 21 and 25 mm pieces....,G.

Here's an interesting one. Marked with both L/16 and 4(on the pin). I wonder if there's a version where the duel markings are reversed? Or just an L/16 on the pin?

Raymond the unmarked BWB with the ballhinge is a 93 and the "L/10" is infact a partial L/18.
The L/10´s have a different design.
I really love the doublemarked 4-L/16!

Hi --dj--Joe. I'm still pretty new to badge collecting..how can you tell if it's tombac base metal? Are there a few things that I can look for to identify it? In the meantime I'll look on the internet for a descrition as well.

Ed, tombac is a brass based alloy with copper and zinc content.
Depending on how much copper you may see a brassy to a reddish brass looking base metal peeking through the paint.
It will not attract a magnet.
A zinc alloy badge will not attract a magnet either. But will appear as grey metal.
Steel badges of course are magnetic.

The pin on your wound badge is either tombac or plated steel.

--dj--Joe, Thank you for the information. It is very useful information. I don't have access to the badge at the moment because I'm out of the country until the end of November. When I get back home I will examine the badge carefully and do a magnet test. I'll post my findings then. Sorry that it will take so long.

--dj-Joe, I looked at the photo of the badge and on the back side on the left side toward the bottom...the paint is worn off the edge/rim. It appears to be a yellow or brass color like the pin. The magnet test will most likely help with the answer.

That's a tough question for me to answer as I don't collect variations.
I understand there is a triple marked 65 that is difficult to find.
Some marked badges are searched out for the marks location, such as L/53's and 107's.
117 is commented on as a rare find.

Hi , heres my black wound badge

heres an intersting one, the citation was dated 12 7 45, its on very thin paper, when i translated it said it was signed by a Dr or some medical person

Looks to have been awarded in a Naval hospital.
