Here is the item

Lot Nr. 7438
Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler - Honour Badge of 9 November 1923 (Blood Order) with registration no. 3
Silver-embossed medal in the issue of the first award series for the participants of the Hitler-Ludendorff putsch. Below Feldherrnhalle stamped bearer no. "3", hallmark "990" in its early issue as well as maker's signature "J. FUESS MÜNCHEN". Diameter 40.5 mm. Weight 22.8 g. The Honour Badge is in its original find condition, with stronger scratches especially on upper side and various blows to edge. Eyelet and ring missing.
The Honour Badge was found in 1952 in the soil along with an originally diamond(?)-studded pistol/Heinrich Himmler's weapon of honour by August Kroll (1884 - 1959), the grandfather of the consignor, together with a friend who jointly used a small allotment for agriculture which was situated behind Landesfeuerwehrschule Schleswig-Holstein along Süderstraße in Harrislee. The fund was split up between the two of them and handed down in the families (Kroll's friend whose name unfortunately cannot be determined received the pistol).
Heinrich Luitpold Himmler (1900 - 1945) joined the NSDAP in August 1923 after being a member of the Bayerische Volkspartei BVP as from 1919 and later of the Bund Artam e.V., which was a radical youth movement later to be included in the Hitler Youth. On 9 November 1923 he was a standard-bearer of the Infanteriezug I of "Bund Reichskriegsflagge" which was a paramilitary unit commanded by Ernst Röhm in the Hitler Putsch and therefore was awarded the third Blood Order after Röhm and Hitler's deputy Rudolf Heß in 1934 (Hitler wore the numberless one) with the registration no. "3" (cf. the belonging award document: lot 6157, Auction 67, 15 November 2013).
Fleeing from Berlin at the end of the war, Himmler reached the ruling Dönitz government in Flensburg on 3 May 1945 and stayed overnight on a farm in Hüholz near Ausacker. He then retreated to the Feuerwehrschule in Harrislee and initially put on a fire brigade uniform, later civilian clothes and exchanged his glasses for an eye patch to conceal his real identity. On 9 May the former Reichsführer-SS changed his name into "Heinrich Hitzinger", a sergeant of the Geheime Feldpolizei (MP) who had been fated to die and executed by the Volksgerichtshof some time ago. During this time, at least until 10 May 1945, when Himmler left the Flensburg area with his small escape group (i.a. Gebhardt, Ohlerndorf and Macher) the above mentioned objects must have been buried on the plot of land later leased by August Kroll (today an allot settlement). Himmler then got arrested south of Bremervörde on 21 May and committed suicide two days later biting through a glass phial containing potassium cyanide he had kept hidden in his mouth.
