Does anybody have a copy of the 182 (or 183 according to some sources) known recipients of the Spanish Civil War Wound Award in Black?

I just got a Soldbuch for a Medical Stabswachtmeister, who joined the Wehrmacht in about 1923 or 24.

In the awards section he is listed as earning (amongst other things) a Black Wound award on 14 October 1936 (of course, the awards were not actually approved until May 1939), but this Soldbuch was issued in 1942.

I am interested in seeing if his name is on the known list.

Can anyone help?

David!

This guy ended up on attachment to 21 Panzer Division.

He had earned a few different levels of Marksmanship Lanyard, the 4 year and 12 year long service medals.

I also got his Red Cross armband, his card that entitles him to wear it, his discharge certificate (processed by the British, after the war) and an addendum document on his entitlement to the Marksmanship Lanyards. Also included was a Red Cross small tub of what I believe to be frostbite salve, dated April 1941.

All in all, an interesting group, if you collect medical.
