Post em if you have them. Let's attempt to place as many examples as we can in this thread.

Jamie, nice badge.
Recently discovered evidence suggests the W in a circle with 5 dashes above the W is the mark of E. FERD WIEDMANN. Note, E FERD is five letters to correspond to the dashes. Post war images of the emblem and the factory name have been seen. It was thought to be WERNSTEIN for years but doubts had been growing.

Ok Joe, I'll note the changes in my records.

The rest are all unmarked and I haven't been able to check them against marked pieces. There is a good book on these put out by a member on WAF (Sascha Weber-Infosammler)but, there are some makers missing from the book.

Nice line up. Smile

That's only the 2nd. time I have seen WH in an oval. Smile

Collectors please, other examples?

--dj--Joe
Joe,
Check this minesweeper out. Appears to be an AS, but many don't think so based on minor variances in design. Interestingly, this one has some sort of personalization next to the ball/hinge harndware assembly. An unmarked example.

Jamie, Raymond, Tom, Robert, Z06, Stan, thanks for making this such a valuable and informative thread. Cool

--dj--Joe
Well deserving of another look. Smile

--dj--Joe
Raymond, looks like unmarked #2 is a Foerster & Barth.

--dj--Joe
Great looking badges guys. A really wonderful badge. So Ray, I guess that's where all of the minesweeper examples have gone Smile

Attached picture ms_bk.jpg
Joe, I'll have to check on that unmarked #2. It does look like a Foerster & Barth on a quick look. The catch is a different style but maybe they used more that one catch.
Sword-Fish, I bought most of my badges years ago when they were relatively cheap, well at least compared with today's prices. These badges were very common at shows. Now it seems they are all put away Frown.
Gents,

Here's one that I recently came across that I thought I'd add to this nice thread. Thanks for sharing all those fine examples with us, gents!

This one's unmarked, and has a distinctive, right-angled, "C" catch. Any ideas or opinions in general?

Thanks again for all the fine photographs! Smile

Bill

The catch has been seen on wound badges and other badges also. Luft. AA badge for one.

It has a distinctive notch at the base of the water plume. Ridges to the leaves. Fierce looking eagle.

--dj--Joe
Joe,

As always, appreciated, kind sir! Wink

W~
Thank you for showing it Bill. I have seen at least two other examples like it. Consensus supports, that it's an early to mid war produced badge by an unknown maker. Not a common find.

--dj--Joe
This old thread was lurking in the back pages. Well worth another trip to the top.
Any additions, anyone?

--dj--Joe
yeah some really have some really nice details to them.. Were any ever produced 'Hollowback' ??
Here is a Schwerin Mine Sweeper from my collection.

Cheers!

Thank you.

Gaspare, my apologies for the late reply. To my knowledge there were no hollow back period produced Mine Sweeper/Sub Chaser/Escort Vessel war badges.
