Forward turners have an interesting history in the USA. I know Pittsburgh still has a society. It says on the presentation that it is a symbol of the love of german gymnastics given either from or to the turners in Baltimore to or from the turners in Washington DC
Here are couple interesting links about them I would guess its late 19th or early 20th c century piece
Maryland turners Turner history
I believe to Baltimore from their brother turners in Columbia dc using the term Columbia is old as well I think 19th century then
Very Interesting Thank you Sir !
It says
The gymnastic-association "Vorwaerts" ("go ahead") - the umlaut "ae" still cannot be written correctly here in the forum.
at Baltimore
to the brother-association , "Columbia"
in Washington
as a sign of german,
gymnastic love (love is here meant in the sense of sympathy).
