Hello guys Does an Ed Wusthof Rohm have to have the small maker's mark? Thanks and cheers, Ryan

really no comments in one week? This would have been answered within minutes of posting 15 years ago by Gailen or Ron or Craig or Paul or others........ :( I have been told that a Wusthof Rohm SA must have the distinctive small trademark. I have owned EPS and Eickhorn full Rohms and partial SMF but never an Ed Wusthof. So, answered my own question cheers :)

Hi ,

it was my intention to reply soon to your question but being unable to load pics I was then "dumb".
I can confirm that the Wusthof's logos of R?hm daggers are smaller than normal ones . On my 3 partial the logo is located at about 1,0 cm of the low guard and it measures 1,35 cm high . Sorry for not showing pics as I hoped .

I believe they did use the larger trademark as I have a Wustoff with "Oe" gruppe mark seen below and has had a regrind on the reverse side of the blade. hard to see in the photo but in hand ..a couple of depressed areas on the blade and a slight wave on the spine.

Very controversial Dagger and SA gruppe ..which I had seen other numbered examples only a few.

Looks like Larry's is the larger one and Seppi's is the Rohm version.

Hallo all ,

to clear this problem , the 2 logos are : 19 mm high for the normal Ed.W?sthof and only 13,5 mm for my both ground R?hm .

A pic would be more usefull ... ;-)

Thanks guys thanks Vern, so a Wusthoff Rohm can have large and small? So many people told me that it can only have the smaller trademark. Cheers and best, Ryan

Here is a side by side comparison.

I have never seen a W?sth?f SA Rohm, full, partial, nor ground with the large mark... So that is a not period version in my opinion.

Best regards,

Herman

Emedals currently has a full Roehm large mark SA for sale.

Hi I Purchased it for $3500 ( a steal) but after being told it was questionable from pics had it returned before taking delivery. Vern did you consider it to be good from the pictures? regards, Ryan

From the photos I saw, I believe it is good. Gailand had a large Wusthof trademark Roehm that I examined at the SOS some years ago and it matched up. That's about the best one can do from a set of photos. An in hand exam should identify if the Roehm inscription was added later.

his logo is always smaller on the ground blades. Looks nice, Ryan.

I myself have a full ground from him that I show on my website in the museum section.

Hi Seppi,

I have never seen such a dark MM, nor inscription on any Ed. Wusthof SA dagger... So I don't like it, from what I can see on this sole picture...

Other makers used those very dark etches, but Ed Wusthof was not one of them and had a very typical greyer etch.

Best regards,

Herman
