Hi all im new here but been collecting for a few years. I recently picked up a legit ground rohm Aesculap SA dagger for $189 (20 for shipping). To my surprise it surely was a legit dagger and a very nice heavy early original (not a parts dagger) dagger. It has no scabbard but for the price I cant complain. I wish I could post pics but I dont have premium membership. Overall would you guys say it was a good buy. Tips nice, inscription is totally 100% factory ground motto and maker mark are lightish but still there. Gru mark is SW and its an Aesculap of tuttligen. How much do you figure a decent early scabbard will run me? Thanks for any replies!
Hi - you can still post up to 5 photos even with a regular membership here- sometimes the images need to be resized, and I am not a dagger guy- but welcome! And if I may speak on behalf of most of us- I think we would love to see these pictures, please!
Regards
Mike
Oh nice on other boards you cant post pics. Ill charge up my camera then and see what I can do. Theres no way to post pics from a phone is there? Sorry about the noob questions im just not that big of a tech guy.
Alright I got pics hopefully I can figure out how to crop these.
Yes I post them from mine all the time - if cropping doesn't work email them to yourself (your iCloud account works best-) then when the message says it's too large- pick a smaller size, then open the email, save all the images- and post those. It's the only way I have ever been able to do it, but I understand there are resizing tools available.
I am particular to that brand. They are the sharpest of all sa daggers literally ! A partial grind on one of those took a day. I think the handles are berkanau birch .
You can post as many pics as you want - free. Do it 5 at a time. Instructions are in the welcome forum:

Please post the actual pictures - not links. The links disappear.
Thanks
its saying I have to resize so ill try picresize.com thanks for the help guys,I'm not the best with computers.
ohh that came out terrible, whats the max file size ill have to try that again, but at least I figured out posting pics.
Well, at least you got something to show up. Maybe try again in the morning.
50 percent smaller at 126kb lets see if this works
Alright last time give me a clear back shot.
finally something visible I can see the maker mark and the grind spot can everyone else? Its been ground good, when I tilt the blade I can just barely see the last ghostly remnants of Ernst rohms signitaure but the inscription parts 100% gone, not much crossgrain left on the back. Would you guys say that was factory done or backyard on the grinding stone? I'm no expert on this. GRU is SW don't think you can make that out. I haven't tried taking it apart yet, I'm always terrified the first time I take one apart, heard quite a few horror stories. What would I use a combination wrench or a socket? Anybody know the size of the pommel nut in mm's?
Send me original, full sized pictures and I will post for you. dave@germandaggers.com
Find a 3/8 inch or 10mm wrench and grind it flat on both sides so it can fit on the nut. Do NOT use vice grips / sockets, etc

hi members
a little advice here on takeing apart the handles of s/a or nskk daggers all you have to do is look hard in your garage or basements for a perfect size wrench that comes with every penn fishing reel the wrench fits perfectly cant ask for anything better hope this helps god bless all andy militarynut
Thanks for the advice when i get on later ill send those to ya. Hey are you guys intrested in seeing some original nuclear bomb testing original photos? I got some I just finished framing I can take pictures and mail em out with the daggershots to dave if youd like to see those. My great uncle participated in nuclear testing while in the navy and my mom got them from his mother shortly before she died we all went up and saw her. Let me know guys.
Producer is Aesculap and would be a bit of a rarity but can not say its a Rohm dagger in the pics provided.
Standard Aesculap SA em are quite common.

This blade must have been a fake. No decent pictures.........should have figured it out after three years?
